Example: Configuring CAPWAP tunnel establishment through DHCPv6 at Layer 3
Specifying an IPv6 address for the AC
Overview
The following information provides an example for configuring CAPWAP tunnel establishment through DHCPv6.
Prerequisites
The following information applies to Comware 7-based access controllers. Procedures and information in the examples might be slightly different depending on the software or hardware version of the H3C access controllers.
The configuration examples were created and verified in a lab environment, and all the devices were started with the factory default configuration. When you are working on a live network, make sure you understand the potential impact of every command on your network.
The following information is provided based on the assumption that you have basic knowledge of CAPWAP tunnel establishment.
Example: Configuring CAPWAP tunnel establishment through DHCPv6 at Layer 3
Network configuration
As shown in Figure 1, the switch acts as a DHCPv6 server. Configure the AP to obtain AP and AC IP addresses from the DHCPv6 server.
Procedures
Specifying an IPv6 address for the AC
1. Create VLAN 20. (Details not shown.)
2. Click the System View tab at the bottom of the page.
3. From the navigation pane, select Network Configuration > Network Services > IP Services.
4. On the IPv6 tab, set the IPv6 address of VLAN-interface 20 to 2::AA and set the prefix to 64.

Configuring an AP
1. Click the Network View tab at the bottom of the page.
2. From the navigation pane, select Wireless Configuration > AP Management.
a. Click the Add
button to
create an AP and specify its name as ap1.
b. Specify the AP model and serial ID.

Configuring a static route
1. Click the System View tab at the bottom of the page.
2. From the navigation pane, select Network Configuration > Network Routing.
3. On the Static Routing tab, create an IPv6 static route with destination IPv6 address 1::/64 and next hop address 2::AB.

Configuring the switch
1. Set the IP address of VLAN-interface 1 to 1::1/64.
2. Create VLAN 20 and set the IP address of VLAN-interface 20 to 2::AB/64.
Configuring the DHCPv6 server
1. Create a DHCPv6 address pool and specify subnet 1::0/64 in the pool.
2. Configure Option 52 to specify AC IP address 2::AA.
Verifying the configuration
1. Click the Network View tab at the bottom of the page.
2. From the navigation pane, select Wireless Configuration > AP Management.
3. On the AP tab, verify that the AP has come online.

5. On the CAPWAP Tunnel tab, verify that the AP uses DHCP to discovery the AC.
