IMPORTANT: · Among the network management ports on an MPU, only port 0 is available during the startup of the switch. · To connect an SFP network management port on the MPUs, make sure the peer port operates at 1000 Mbps in full-duplex mode. · The 100GE ports on an LSUM1MPUS10XEB0 MPU can be used as IRF physical ports or network interfaces. When used as network interfaces, they can communicate only with interfaces on service modules. · Do not use USB extension cables to connect the USB ports on the MPUs. |
Service modules
Restrictions and guidelines
Follow these restrictions and guidelines to use the service modules:
· The fiber ports cannot automatically negotiate or be configured to operate in half-duplex mode. For information about the duplex mode of Ethernet interfaces, see Ethernet interface commands in H3C S10500X Interface Command Reference.
· When you use the using hundredgige-from-fortygige interface command to convert 40-GE ports on the LSUM2CQGS12SG0 and LSUM1CQGS12XSG0 interface modules to 100-GE ports, only ports 1, 4, 7, and 10 are available.
· When you use the using hundredgige-from-fortygige interface command to convert 40-GE ports on an LSUM1CQGS32SF0 interface module to 100-GE ports, only odd-numbered ports are available.
· Slot 15 on an S10516X switch does not support the LSUM1CGS32XSH0 or LSUM1CGS20XSH0 interface module.
· An S10510X switch does not support the LSUM1CGS32XSH0 or LSUM1CGS20XSH0 interface module when it uses the LSUM1MPUS10XEA0 or LSUM1MPUS10XEB0 MPUs.
· An S10506X switch does not support the LSUM1CGS32XSH0 or LSUM1CGS20XSH0 interface module in slot 4 or 5 when it uses the LSUM1MPUS06XEB0 MPUs.
· You can use SA interface modules on the switch only when one of the following conditions exists:
¡ The switch uses the LSUM1MPUS06XEB0, LSUM1MPUS06XEC0, LSUM1MPUS10XE0, LSUM1MPUS10XEA0, or LSUM1MPUS10XEB0 MPUs.
¡ The switch uses the LSUM1SUPXD0 or LSUM1SUPXES0 MPUs together with the LSUM1FAB08XEB0 switching fabric modules.

Switching fabric modules
CAUTION: · The console port on a switching fabric module is only for maintenance by H3C Support. Do not use the port if you have not been trained for that. · You must install switching fabric modules of the same model on the switch. |
IMPORTANT: Follow these restrictions and guidelines when you install switching fabric modules: · On an S10506X switch, populate switching fabric module slots 9 and 10 prior to slot 7. Populate slot 7 only when the switch requires three switching fabric modules. · On an S10508X or S10508X-V switch, populate switching fabric module slots 10 and 12 prior to other switching fabric module slots. Populate slot 11 only when the switch requires five switching fabric modules. · On an S10510X switch, populate switching fabric module slots 13 and 14 prior to slot 11. Populate slot 11 only when the switch requires three switching fabric modules. · Do not install both an LSUM1FAB10XE0 switching fabric module and an LSUM1MPUS10XEB0 MPU on an S10510X switch. · On an S10516X switch, populate switching fabric module slots 18 and 20 prior to other switching fabric module slots. Make sure the total maximum output power of the ordered power modules is greater than the system power consumption. As a best practice, reserve 20% of the maximum output power.

NOTE: When the temperature of a power module exceeds the acceptable temperature range, the power module is automatically powered off. When the temperature returns to the acceptable temperature range, the power module is automatically powered on. |

DC power cords
DC power cords are used for connecting DC power modules of the switch to the external DC power source.

AC power cords
An AC power cord is used to connect an AC power module of the switch to the external AC power supply system.
To select an AC power cord for an AC power module, consider the following items:
· Power capacity of the power module.
· Current-carrying capacity of the power cord.
· Region-and country-specific plug type.
The AC power modules available for the switch require a 16A AC power cord. Table 7-7 describes the region-and country-specific plug types for 16A AC power cords.

Fan trays
The S10506X, S10508X, S10508X-V, and S10510X switches come with a fan tray installed in the FAN0 slot. You can install a fan tray in the FAN1 slot as required. The S10516X switch comes with a fan tray installed in each fan tray slot.
If a fan tray fails, purchase a fan tray compatible with the switch to replace the failed one.
