Component views
Routing and switching units
The routing and switching unit is the core component of the router. It runs the system software and saves system configuration information. It delivers the following functions:
· Protocol processing
· Data packet forwarding
· Interface control
· Fault detection

Power cables
A DC power cable is used to connect a DC power supply to an external DC power supply system.
See Table2-4 for the DC power cables supported by the PWR-RA5300-D DC power supply available for the router.

Fan trays
The FAN-60-6-A fan tray is available for the router. The fan tray has six fans and can automatically adjust the rotation speed based on the device temperature. The fan tray is hot swappable.
