Perform this task to configure NTP servers. All hosts in the system synchronize to the NTP server to ensure that all hosts and VMs in the system have the same system time.
To ensure correct operation of UIS, do not edit the system time of the hosts after the NTP server is configured.
As a best practice, configure the current UIS host as the primary NTP server.
You do not need to configure the backup NTP server in either of the following conditions:
The primary NTP server uses the IP address or host name of the UIS-installed node.
In a stateful failover system, the primary NTP server uses the VIP, the IP address or host name of the primary management node, or the IP address or host name of the backup management node.
Disabling NTP synchronization might cause the time skew between storage nodes to increase and eventually interrupt services. Changing the NTP server might cause the storage cluster to malfunction if a large time skew exists between the new NTP server and the cluster. Before changing the NTP server, make sure only a small time skew exists between the new NTP server and the cluster.
The time displayed on the NTP configuration page is the system time of the NTP server. If the PC that the user uses to log in to the management platform is inconsistent with the NTP server in time zone settings, the system will calculate the time zone difference based on the PC and the time displayed on the NTP configuration page might be different from the system time of the NTP server.
On the top navigation bar, click System, and then select NTP Server from the navigation pane.
Enter the domain names or IP addresses of the primary and backup NTP servers.
Click Save.
Primary Server: Enter the domain name or IP address of the primary NTP server.
